How to Play Hexa-2048

2048 looks simple: slide numbered tiles, merge matching pairs, reach 2048. Getting there takes planning, and this guide shows you the strategy experienced players use.

What is Hexa-2048?

You play on a 4x4 grid. Every move slides all tiles as far as they can go in one direction. When two tiles with the same number touch, they merge into one tile with double the value (2+2=4, 4+4=8 and so on). After each move a new 2 or 4 appears in an empty square. You win when you make a 2048 tile and lose when the board is full and no moves are left.

How to play Hexa-2048

Use the arrow keys on a keyboard. On a phone or tablet, swipe up, down, left or right.

Step by step

1. Press an arrow key (or swipe) to slide every tile in that direction.
2. Watch for two equal numbers lining up; they merge when they slide into each other.
3. Look at where the new 2 or 4 appeared before your next move.
4. Keep merging until you build a 2048 tile, then keep going for a higher score if you like.

Strategy tips to play better

• Pick one corner (for example bottom-left) and keep your biggest tile there all game.
• Use mostly two directions (down and left if your corner is bottom-left) and a third only when needed. Avoid the direction that pulls your big tile out of its corner.
• Build a chain along the bottom row in falling order, like 256, 128, 64, 32, so each merge feeds the next.
• Do not chase small merges in the middle of the board; keep the board tidy so new tiles do not get trapped.
• If you must move away from your corner, move straight back on the next turn.
