How to Play Nine Men's Morris

Nine Men's Morris is a classic strategy game that is easy to learn.

What is Nine Men's Morris?

Players take turns placing 9 pieces on the 24 points. Then they move pieces one step along a line. Three in a row along a line is a mill and lets you remove an opponent piece (not from a mill, if possible). With three pieces left you may fly.

How to play Nine Men's Morris

Tap a point to place. In the moving phase tap your piece, then a green point.

Step by step

1. Place pieces one at a time.
2. Make a mill (three in a row) to remove an opponent piece.
3. When all are placed, move pieces along lines.
4. With only three pieces, fly anywhere.
5. Win when your opponent has two pieces or cannot move.

Strategy tips to play better

• Take points with four connections (the middle of each side) early.
• Block your opponent when they have two in a row.
• Set up a piece that can slide in and out of a mill to make it again and again.
• Do not place all pieces on the outer square.
