How to Play Snakes and Ladders

Snakes and Ladders is one of the oldest board games in the world. Here is how our online version works.

What is Snakes and Ladders?

Players take turns rolling the dice and moving their counter that many squares. Landing at the bottom of a ladder climbs you up; landing on a snake's head slides you down. You must land exactly on 100 to win. Rolling a 6 gives you another turn.

How to play Snakes and Ladders

Press Roll the dice. Counters move automatically.

Step by step

1. Press Roll the dice.
2. Your counter moves forward that many squares.
3. Ladders take you up; snakes take you down.
4. Roll a 6 to roll again.
5. Land exactly on 100 to win.

Strategy tips to play better

• It is a game of luck, so enjoy it and be a good sport.
• Count the squares along with your counter to practise counting.
• Near the end, work out what number you need to land on 100.
